前週、和歌山市秋季大会決勝でグレイトに敗戦を喫し、今季初タイトルを逃したレジェンド。今週は西部リーグ優勝決定戦と、2週連続でタイトルマッチとなったこの一戦。相手は近畿大会出場チーム・ネクストインパクトだ。強豪相手に初タイトルを掴めるか。今季最大のビッグマッチが幕を開けた。
試合は初回、1死満塁とチャンスを作ると、打席には5番、前垣。鋭く振り抜いた当たりは2点タイムリーとなる二塁打。その後二死から中村拓も続き、3点を先制。
その裏のネクストインパクトの攻撃をゼロに防ぐと、嶋本拓・前垣のタイムリーと1.3塁からの二重盗で3点を追加。リードを6点に広げる。
しかしここで黙っていないのがネクストインパクト。満塁からの連続2点タイムリーで豪快に4点を返すと、3回表のレジェンドの攻撃を無失点に凌ぎ、その裏の攻撃で一気に同点に。タイムアップを告げるアラームが鳴り響く中、2死1、2塁の状態で打球が左翼・渡爪の元へ。鋭いチャージでボールを掴むと、見事なストライク投球でサヨナラを阻止！
スーパープレーが飛び出し、首の皮一枚繋げる。本来はじゃんけんで決着の予定であったが、会議の末延長戦を実施する事となる。
延長戦は嶋本拓・山本が続けて凡退した後、2死走者無しの場面で前垣が四球を選び、続く鈴木が二塁打で繋ぐと、中村拓が右翼を越える、大きすぎる2点タイムリー！スーパープレーが飛び出し、勢いに乗る渡爪もあわや本塁打という二塁打でさらに1点を追加。3点をリードし、優勝が掛かった4回裏へ。
最後は嶋本拓が1点を失い、なおも満塁と一打同点のピンチを迎えるも、最後の打者をショートゴロに打ち取り、試合終了。
この結果により、長きに渡る2025年シーズンの西部リーグが幕を閉じた。その頂点に輝いたのは、前年何とか最終節で1部残留を決めた和歌山レジェンド。最底辺のどん底から見事這い上がり、ふたたび頂点に返り咲いた。
これで2025年シーズンも、残す大会はわかやま新報杯のみ。タイトルを奪取した勢いそのままに、西部リーグ覇者が年間最大のビッグマッチに臨む。（文・山本大）
